The Lucid Body is a psychophysical technique created by Fay Simpson (Head of Movement, NYU Grad Acting), used by actors Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Siravo, Amanda Warren, and Winston Duke, and taught at top acting programs like Juilliard, Yale, NYU, and Northwestern to cultivate layered, body-led performance for stage and screen. 

This introductory workshop is an onramp to the full 8 week Lucid Body Basics: Levels 1 & 2 beginning April 12, 2026, offering a focused entry point to the practices that will be developed in greater depth over the longer training course.  

Actors of all backgrounds, from seasoned professionals to those newly curious about the craft, are invited to explore how visceral truth and expressive clarity emerge through the body. 

Through practical, guided exercises, participants will:

• expand access to sensation and response

• stretch emotional and physical range

• develop skills for engaging character and text

Please bring a yoga mat, a water bottle, and wear clothing that allows for freedom of movement. 

This series of intro workshops may be taken independently or together. Returning students will encounter new material and first-time students will receive a clear onramp into the process.

Each session explores a different facet of the Lucid Body technique, offering a glimpse into the larger training arc and how this work can be applied directly to your acting.
