Ariel Downs is a professional opera singer, actor, and educator. Onstage, she captivates audiences with her adventurous repertoire and magnetic stage presence. As an educator and artist, she brings a generosity of spirit and playful exploration to the creative process. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in curiosity, and a desire to facilitate students discovery of their most free, vibrant, and empowered expression.
Ariel has been a part of the Green Shirt Studio community since 2023 where she completed Levels 1-5 of the Meisner Training Program followed by Meisner Teacher Training in 2025. She also received her Doctorate in Musical Arts in 2022 and Masters of Music in Vocal Performance in 2018 from the University of Missouri Kansas City.
Select credits include include Voce 1 in the U.S. premiere of Il nostro posto nel mondo, Zamira (Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Fallen Giant) with Opera Modesto, Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance) with Heartland Opera Theatre, Despina (Cosi fan tutte) and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) with Mid-Ohio Civic Opera, Nannetta (Falstaff) and Annina (La traviata)with Lawrence Opera Theatre, Miss Silverpeal (The Impresario) and Musetta (La bohème) with Midwest Opera Theater, and Taumännchen/Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel) with the Bar Harbor Music Festival.
