Scene Study offers students an opportunity to focus on a variety of scenes from contemporary plays, giving them a more individualized approach based on what their current experience/skill level asks for. Building upon the Meisner skills taught at Green Shirt, students will use a Stanislavski-based approach in this class with a focus on driving the action and doing vs. indicating.
Konstantin Stanislavsky was a Russian actor, director and founder of the Moscow Art Theatre. His research and acting methods were introduced to Sanford Mesiner in the 1930s (along with other members of the Group Theatre). His work was a foundation to Meisner’s own process.
Actors will deepen their relationship to text, character and action while honing in on skills of listening, reacting and rehearsing with others. A full-body, full-heart exploration for a group of actors who are ready to give it their all and play generously with others.
