Coming in at the top of this year, I had zero experience and wasn't quite sure what to expect but I don't think I could've asked for a better introduction to the world of acting. I started taking classes at Green Shirt at the beginning of this year. I had zero training - the last time I’d acted in anything was when I was a kid - and was taking the first class just to see how it felt to dip a toe back in. Given that it’s now almost a year later and I’m finishing up the final level of the Meisner technique classes and loving it, clearly it felt great. The classes are methodical and very approachable - they start incredibly simply and steadily add complexity in very digestible ways. I won’t say the classes are easy - they take work, you’re learning and growing as you take them - but they are rewarding. Jack Shultz is an excellent instructor - he makes the space safe to take chances, to fail, and then get right back into it. I’ve taught things other than acting before, I’ve helped train other educators as well, and Jack has the goods. He cares, a lot, and has been unstinting with his time when any of us students had questions and very patient when we get stuck. Cannot recommend Green Shirt enough - if you are at all acting curious try the first level and see how it goes. If you’re not a beginner it’s still an amazing program - my classmates who had much more experience than I do have all learned quite a bit from the program as well.

Update on 9.2.25 - Got back at Green shirt for their Decoding Shakespeare class and WOW I am so impressed with the teachers and how they folded classical text with Meisner technique - it's a great way to get your feet wet with Shakespeare in a comfortable and supported way.

Profound experience. I'm deeply grateful to Jack Schultz and my classmates. I joined, not knowing what to expect, just wanting to do something that let my emotions have the reigns. Class was perfect for that. We didn't memorize lines or do scenes. Instead class was structured around a series of partner exercises. They felt like two person meditation to me. Working closely with someone trying to be present, share and name an experience you were having together. We laughed, fought, and cried. Jack was amazing for giving just the right level of structure. We had activities, he gave feedback, there was always a plan. But it always felt like we had space. Space to explore, deviate, mess up, try again. Between work and family I don't have much extra time in life. I'm so glad I devoted 8 weeks to this class. I hope to do more in the future.
