Class Description: This class series will encourage students to explore their consciousness through the physically intense work of Jerzy Grotowski. We will embody plastiques, corporeals, and elements of theatre as ritual. Not for the faint of heart, the Grotowski work involves a dynamic approach to working with the self and others. This includes embracing radical self-honesty, experimenting with layers of exhaustion, and opening to deep collaboration with vulnerability. By understanding Grotowski's unique way of approaching actor training, presence awakens and impulses become more readily available.

What's Grotowski? Jerzy Grotowski’s actor training strips performance down to its most essential elements, emphasizing the actor’s body and voice as primary instruments rather than relying on sets or spectacle. It pushes performers toward rigorous physical and emotional honesty, using disciplined exercises to unlock vulnerability, presence, and a deeply truthful connection with the audience.
