Chicago Style Triple Threat is a one night workshop that offers students a chance to strengthen their improv, acting, and vocal performance skills!

All adults 18 + are invited to participate in this workshop. No improv, acting, or vocal performance experience required. This workshop is perfect for both the absolute beginner and the seasoned performer.

Section 1
Intro to the Art of Slow Improv with Jimmy Carrane

Jimmy believes that improv should be as easy as having a conversation and that is what the Art of Slow Comedy method is all about. It does not matter if you are a seasoned actor or new to improv, Jimmy will meet you where you are at.

In this in-person workshop, you will learn the tools of improvisation. We will work on:

  • Being more authentic and vulnerable
  •  Becoming more creative and spontaneous.
  • Having a freedom on stage that you have never experienced before.
  • Learning to be supported in taking more risks on stage

Section 2
Open Scenes with Jack Schultz

When an actor gets a script, it’s easy to immediately get trapped in their head about the “correct” way to say their lines. In the second section of Chicago Style Triple Threat students will:

  • Memorize a short scene
  • Experiment with techniques that allow the scene to feel like an improvisation with memorized words
  • Share the scenes with the class

Section 3
Musical Improv with Alexandra Plattos Sulack

Musical improv is an extension of scenic work. In this third section of the Chicago Style Triple Threat workshop, we will:

  • Explore vocal warm ups and why they’re important
  • Build upon the listening and communication skills with vocal clowning
  • Play structured games to continue building on listening skills already at play throughout the workshop

Studio Cancellation

Occasionally we’ll have to cancel a workshop due to low enrollment. We’re sorry if that happens to you! If we have to cancel a workshop you’ve signed up for, we will give you at least 48 hours notice and promptly start your refund process.

In the event that class is canceled due to circumstances beyond our control (including but not limited to extreme weather and pandemic related shutdowns), a make-up will be scheduled as soon as it’s safe for our students and instructors to be together safely at the studio.

In some cases classes may transfer to an online platform. If a student is unable to attend the rescheduled class due to circumstances beyond our control (including but not limited to extreme weather and pandemic related shutdowns) that student will receive credit on their account for the value of missed classes.

Student Cancellation

We keep our classes very small to ensure everyone gets the best learning experience. Since we only have a very small amount of seats to sell, it is very costly when someone reserves a seat, and then backs out when we don’t have enough time to resell that seat. We hope you understand!

If a student is withdrawing from class more than 7 days prior to start date, the amount of the tuition paid including a $108 non-refundable deposit will be kept on credit at the studio for a year, to be used on a future class.

Alternatively, students who withdraw more than 7 days prior to the start date can keep $108 non-refundable deposit on file to be applied to a future class and any other payments made will be refunded to the original payment method.

If you drop the class ON THE DAY OF THE FIRST CLASS OR AFTER, the full tuition is non-refundable, non-transferrable, and may not be kept on file for a future class.

We appreciate you respecting this policy for the best experience for our instructors and students!
