Day 1: Introduction to the Meisner Approach to Acting
(Saturday, 7/22 from 10am-5pm)
Sanford Meisner’s innovative, step-by-step series of improvisational exercises will train you to be thoroughly responsive, emotionally alive, spontaneous and absolutely grounded in the reality of what is happening at any given moment with any given person. These foundational exercises will get you out of your head and into being absolutely present to the world around you and the people with whom you share it.
Day 2: The Meisner Approach to Auditioning
(Sunday, 7/23 from 10am-5pm)
To act, you first have to be able to book the job. Having a consistent way to approach working on monologues and audition sides is vital to your career. In this 1-day workshop, you will gain tools to personalize audition text (whether sides or monologues), find spontaneity in the room and ground your acting in the truth of the moment. Most importantly, you will discover how to step out from behind limiting habits and find the courage to reveal yourself through your work. Participants are encouraged to come with a monologue they want to work on, though it is not a requirement to take part in the workshop.
